Sumiah Salloum (b. 1992), a recipient of a BFA with departmental honors in photography from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, is a versatile artist currently based in Chicago, IL. Initially focusing her artistic exploration on the complex dynamics of her family's identity, including her father's Muslim faith, Lebanese heritage, her brother's gender transition, and her relatives' immigration to America from Lebanon, Salloum has expanded her lens to encompass broader themes. In addition to archiving her family's life, she now also creates work that contemplates everyday life and community, exploring how these elements seamlessly integrate into her evolving artistic archive. This shift reflects Salloum's ongoing exploration of the intersection between the personal and the universal, capturing the essence of both familial narratives and the broader human experience.
